Timestamping provides cryptographic proof that a document, signature, or piece of data existed at a specific point in time. A qualified timestamp, issued by a trusted service provider (QTSP) under eIDAS or equivalent standards, uses tamper-resistant clocks synchronized to official sources, ensuring the recorded time cannot be falsified.
Unlike a local computer clock, it delivers an independent, verifiable, and legally recognized record of time. In digital signatures, timestamps prove that the signature was created within the signer’s certificate validity period.
Beyond signatures, timestamping can be used as a standalone service to protect server logs, archive financial records, anchor blockchain entries, or safeguard other sensitive information with long-term evidentiary value.
“The partnership with eID Easy offers our clients a swift and easy solution to extend their services across the European continent. Everything needed is combined in one API, eliminating the need for multiple local integrations. This leads to lower costs and faster delivery.”
Timestamping is essential for organizations that need to prove exactly when an action or event took place. Within signatures and eSeals, it guarantees that a signature was applied during the signer’s certificate validity or before a submission deadline.
As a standalone service, it provides tamper-proof evidence for records, logs, and digital assets.
With eID Easy, timestamping can be bundled into digital signature workflows or purchased independently, giving organizations flexibility to meet both compliance requirements and broader security needs.
Timestamping process ensures an independent and verifiable record that cannot be falsified.
Timestamps can be applied to PDF signatures, ASiC-E containers, CAdES or XAdES signatures, and even non-document data such as server logs or blockchain entries.
We work with multiple qualified providers and automatically switch if one has downtime, ensuring uninterrupted service. For archival signatures, we use timestamps from different providers so that even if one is compromised, the validity of your documents is preserved.
All of this is available under a single contract and API, whether you need timestamps bundled with signatures or as a standalone service.
