Here’s a quick look at what we built in the past month, what’s moving forward on the roadmap, and where the team has been active across the ecosystem.
Product progress, partnerships, and the people behind it: all in one place.
1. Product Update: March 2026
In March, we focused on expanding our eID coverage and taking the first concrete steps toward EUDI Wallet readiness.
Key highlights:
Chave Móvel Digital (CMD) implementation (Portugal):
We added CMD as a new eID method, extending our existing Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) capabilities with native Portuguese eID support. This enables businesses to offer a widely trusted, government-backed identity solution for Portuguese users. It is especially valuable for onboarding and signing flows, where local trust and familiarity help improve conversion and completion rates.
EUDIW sandbox testing (Valera wallet):
Customers can now test an EUDI Wallet (Valera) in staging via standard OIDC flows, giving partners early access to wallet-based identity flows in a sandbox environment ahead of production rollouts.
→ If you're interested in Valera wallet sandbox access, let us know here
2. Coming Up Next: What the Product Team is Working On
Here’s what we’re focusing on next, both in the short term and as part of our broader roadmap.
Near-Term Priorities
EUDIW
We’re continuing to invest heavily in EUDI Wallet infrastructure and test environments, building on the first wallet now available in staging. The focus is on stable integrations, scalable architecture, and making sure everything is ready for real-world use cases as wallets go live across Europe.
→ For customers, this means one thing: you’ll be able to plug into wallet ecosystems early, without needing to rebuild your flows later.
General
- Smart-ID+ upgrade: Improvements to security and overall user experience, helping make authentication flows smoother and more reliable.
- Czech BankID: Adding a new eID and signing method, expanding coverage in Central Europe and enabling more local users to onboard and sign with familiar, trusted methods.
2026 Roadmap Highlights
- Digital Identity Wallet (DIW) integrations, with business-ready flows and APIs
- Expanded eID coverage across Europe (Poland, Italy, Spain, Germany, and more)
- Uptime and performance improvements across high-demand methods
- Enhanced analytics and reporting for better operational and client insights
3. Customer Story of the Month
Pay-as-you-go eSignatures at scale: How e-Signature.eu doubles growth with eID Easy
To deliver a simple, prepaid, and frictionless signing experience to their clients, e-Signature.eu turned to eID Easy.
Their challenge?
- Customers needed a solution that was simple, affordable, and immediately usable
- Many existing platforms were too expensive, too complex, or required high minimum volumes
- Subscription pricing meant businesses paid monthly regardless of actual usage, creating inefficiencies
- e-Signature.eu required an infrastructure that supports a fully prepaid, pay-per-use model with no recurring fees
A major friction point was also the signer experience:
- Many solutions require account creation, software installation, or lengthy onboarding
- This creates barriers for recipients who need to sign quickly and easily
The solution?
By integrating eID Easy’s API, e-Signature.eu gained access to a unified API gateway aggregating multiple eIDAS-compliant signature and identification methods. This allows e-Signature.eu to offer users a choice of signing methods depending on their country and document type, through a single integration.
With us:
- e-Signature.eu can offer multiple signing methods through one integration, giving users flexibility based on their country and document type
- Signature methods include options that are free for the signer and require zero setup, meaning users can complete a legally binding signature instantly, without creating an account or installing anything
- The infrastructure handles provider connectivity, timestamping, and regulatory compliance, ensuring everything works reliably across EU member states
→ This allows e-Signature.eu to focus on user experience, client onboarding, and service delivery, instead of managing complex signature infrastructure
The result?
2× year-over-year growth in both signature volume and client base since 2020.

4. Provider Story of the Month
Chave Móvel Digital – Trusted Identity in Portugal
This month, we’re highlighting Chave Móvel Digital (CMD), Portugal’s national eID solution, widely used for secure authentication and digital signatures.
CMD is broadly adopted across Portugal and commonly used to access public and private services, making it a familiar and trusted method for end users. It enables simple, mobile-based identity verification and signing, fully aligned with eIDAS standards.
It’s available to both Portuguese citizens and foreign users with a connection to Portugal (such as a residence permit or tax number), making it a strong option for serving local users while still supporting cross-border scenarios.
From a business use case perspective:
→ eID (identification & login)
Offer a trusted, government-backed login method for Portuguese users. This helps improve onboarding completion rates and reduces friction compared to manual verification flows. Especially useful in fintech, public services, and regulated environments.
→ eSignature (document signing)
Enable users to sign documents digitally using a familiar national method. This increases trust and conversion in signing flows, particularly for contracts, agreements, and compliance-heavy processes.
With CMD available through eID Easy, you can offer both identification and signing via a single API, no additional integrations needed.
5. Around the Company: Events, Updates & More
March kept us busy, with three community meetups and several industry events across different cities. Here’s what the eID Easy team has been up to lately, and what’s coming next:
🇸🇪 Stockholm Fintech Week & Side Event
We spent a few days in Stockholm for Stockholm Fintech Week, where Maoiliosa O'Culachain, Joao Rei, and Daria Krykunova were connecting with the fintech and digital identity community.
We also hosted our own community meetup as an official SFW26 side event, co-hosted with Oneflow. A relaxed evening, good conversations, and a strong mix of identity, fintech, and contract management topics.

🇫🇷 EUDIW Unfold #3 - Ecosystem (Paris)
Maoiliosa O'Culachain and John Jolliffe attended EUDIW Unfold #3, focused on the shift from experimentation to real-world deployment of the European Digital Identity Wallet.
A lot of practical discussions around interoperability, integration, and what needs to happen next across the ecosystem.
It was great to see the ecosystem coming together in one place: issuers, relying parties, intermediaries, and tech providers. There’s definitely energy and a lot of optimism around wallets right now.
The use cases covered a wide range: bank account opening, travel credentials, university enrolment, and more. When you stop and think about what these flows replace (the paperwork, the waiting, the frustration), it’s pretty clear there’s real value here, not just for regulated players, but for anyone issuing or verifying information. - John Jolliffe, Provider Relationship Manager at eID Easy
🇪🇪 Community Meetup #7 (Tallinn)
Back on home turf, we hosted our 7th Community Drinks Meetup in Tallinn.
A full room, familiar faces, and plenty of discussions around digital wallets, eSignatures, and what’s happening in the space right now.

6. Under the Hood: What’s Happening Internally
This month, we’re marking a special moment. After 10 years of building eID Easy, our co-founder, Margus Pala, is moving on to his next chapter.
Looking back, Margus reflects on how far the company has come:
“eID Easy started from nothing, and now it is a mature and established company with a worldwide recognised brand that the best companies trust. I’m proud I was able to leave a mark and have a real impact on making this happen.”
His decision to step away comes at a time when the company is in a strong position:
“eID Easy is currently in the best situation than ever before. The future is very bright, and this is the right time to move on as the impact is minimal to the business.”
Over the past decade, the company has seen steady growth and navigated its share of challenges:
“We’ve delivered consistent ~2x growth every year and managed to get through difficult periods. Customers often tell us they’re happy they found us, that we’re fast and offer a more personal service.”

So what’s next?
Margus plans to take some time to focus on family, while also exploring new ideas, most likely building something new in the AI space:
“I’ve been building startups for a long time, so I’ll take some time to catch up with family. At the same time, I’m exploring new ideas, most likely building something new around AI.”
His view on the industry remains clear:
“Digital identity and signatures are at an inflection point. Infrastructure is getting ready, awareness is growing, and use cases are expanding quickly, much like electricity when power grids were first being built.”
And for customers and partners:
“You’re in good hands. eID Easy is a worldwide leader in this field with strong real-life experience.”
A Note from Our CEO
Our CEO, Maoiliosa O’Culachain, shares a few words on Margus’ contribution over the past 10 years and this transition:
Margus Pala was with eID Easy from the very start in July 2016 and then led the company as CEO until July 2024. Since then, he has been an integral part of the executive management team.
Along with the other co-founders, and with his deep domain knowledge, Margus was key to the Company’s development, initially outbuilding the platform, signing up providers and customers, and bringing in the early investors.
In more recent times, Margus was leading on research and development, specifically introducing AI into eID Easy and making preparations for the emergence of EU Digital Identity Wallets. On behalf of the Company, I’d like to say that Margus can be proud of what has been achieved over 10 years, and he leaves the Company in good fettle and well placed for the next 10 years.
On a personal note, I wish to thank Margus for his support and advice over the past 21 months as I came on board and took the reins as CEO. Together, we have built it into a world-leading API platform built on the foundations laid down by him and the co-founders.
The team wishes Margus the very best in the next chapter of his career as he embraces new opportunities presented by AI.

EU Digital Identity Wallets as of February 2026: Who’s Ready & What’s the Status?
To make sense of the status of all EUDI Wallets, we’ve put together a country-by-country readiness snapshot, along with our latest take on what’s happening across the EU.
Some Member States are building on strong existing systems, others are still laying the groundwork, and not all are sharing their plans openly. It’s a complex picture, and one that’s evolving fast.
As John Jolliffe, our Provider Relationship Manager, puts it:
“Countries are starting from very different places and following very different approaches. Tracking how these projects evolve isn’t always easy, but it’s part of what we do every day.”
