Issued by the Belgian government, it is available to citizens aged 12 and older. For children under 12, a version without the signing functionality is offered, called the Kids-ID.
A separate version is also available for foreign residents.

The Belgian ID card complies with eIDAS regulations and is a recognized Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) method in Europe.
